Broaching is belonging to the main group cutting with geometrically determined cutting edges. The material of the component to be machined is cut by a broaching tool which cutting edges are located one after another, each graded by a destined chipping thickness. Thus the feed rate is in the broaching tool itself. The cutting movement is straight, either horizontal or vertical, in special cases helical. Any internal or external shapes can be broached. Advantages of broaching:
Cutting ability: the final component shape can be produced by one broaching tool
Repeatability: very close tolerances can be kept over a long time without any readjustment.
